WHERE IN THE WORLD IS

CAPTAIN DONNA LANGE?

The Musician, the Sailor and her 28-foot sailboat
INSPIRED INSANITY
Fastest American Woman to Solo Sail the World
via Cape Hope and Cape Horn
First leg was Non-Stop from Rhode Island to New Zealand in 168 days.
Heading North May 2nd to Bristol, RI from West Palm Beach, Florida
aboard sv_ Sherry Lee

By Neil Vangundy after 4 years of dedication to my Journey... :

Donna, with only 7-years of sailing experience, joins the ranks of a very few elite sailors of the world. She is the fastest american woman to single handedly circumnavigated the globe in a 28-foot sailboat named after her state of mind, Inspired Insanity. With only 2 stops in the southern hemisphere, Opua, New Zealand and Ushuaia, Argentina (around the corner from Cape Horn), and a total of 290 days at sea, she completed her circumnavigation on May 16th 2007.

Donna’s story started with a tragic life-changing event in 1998. It so dismembered her existence that she left behind all that she knew. The sea was to be her mentor for a new life. A place where she could search for answers. Repeatedly being tested against extreme odds, her inner strength and physical stamina has overcome countless ocean battles in horrific conditions. Donna was tested by weather once again in April of 2007 in an epic Nor'Easter that pummeled the east coast requiring every ounce of her mental and physical endurance. She says her mind became clear and free after her boat nearly rolled over in the sea. It marked a new beginning. With that turning point, we have a new Donna Lange. With her comes a huge purpose and a huge responsibility.

Thank you Donna Lange for letting us watch you grow and sharing your inspiration and your music. You’ve seen things out there that we can barely imagine or comprehend. It’s your time to share what you’ve learned about life and death and the world we live in.

Donna is available for speaking and music programs as well as Captaining. She has Cd's for sale. MP3's of Donna's music farther below on home page. Please go to pages in site.

Log update: April 29th, 2008 Only 4 days til we Sail North!!
Lots of news:
* A fantastic sail with Stu and my son Keel to Key Largo early April. Though it was nt without some drama. We lost our transmission while anchoring and fortunately barrelled into the mangrove, not something harder. Nothing a few repairs can't fix.. all good.
*A great time with Keel, both sailing, meeting new people, the Dolphin Care Center in Key Largo, one of Stu's passions he supports. Keel and I played some fantastic music and were able to perform for the Palm Beach Sailing Club Open House. We even did some recording.
* Back to WPB to fix things broken and continue the refit. We are going to be down to the wire on being ready to sail May 2nd, but I am believing the best for the new gear to get here.
*SV_ Calypso is back on the water and her new engine purring. We were out sailing for just a few hours but it was glorious. I will be returning to Florida late May to help deliver Calypso north. The migration north begins.
*New opportunities on the horizon. Through a great friend, the idea of working with the tall ship programs along the east coast started to come into focus. Iput out a bunch of resume's and have heard back. I will be visiting several the week after we arrive in RI with Sherry Lee. Soundwaters, Sisters Under Sail, and Mystic, Aurora...
*Plus an incredible opportunity for OceansWatch with a beautiful vintage wooden www.Schooner Dolphin.org being refitted in Norwalk Conn. The owner is a wonderful soul. We are talking about a co-work in humanitarian and ecological, educational work based out of the US. It was such serendipity when I realized he has a long time connection to John Denver's work in Windstar a group Ihave been trying to contact for the last year... so... Life is magic.
*To top off the winter, I planned a trip to ST Thomas and Tortolla to visit long time friends there. Amazingly, I was able to get a ticket and Cooper, my older son, was able to meet me there. It had been nearly 2 years since we saw each other.... It was pure joy. We were so marvelously hosted by my brother, the whole gang in St Thomas and by Neil Perks in Tortolla. Neil P put together a fabulous skydiving demonstration for the BVI Airshow. What a success it all was. And to top it off, Neil Vangundy and Colleen were there, finishing up their dream journey through the Caribbean Islands. So... There you have it...
Do keep tuned... Alot is coming up. I will be moving forward with OceansWatch, Youth4Oceans, plus getting INSPIRED INSANITY in the water. She will have a mooring in Warren RI. I will be catching up with great friends and joining the music world there as soon as i can. Friday night open mics at the Coffee Depot. And reuniting with the great band "RED EYE FLIGHT". They have a new CD

Check out my dear friend Stephane Tremblay's site: www.peacefuljourney.com He leaves soon for his own epic sail around the world, promoting OceansWatch and Caring about the Oceans and Humanity.

Wednesday night will be my last chance to play some music at the Palm Beach Sailing Club where I had the pleasure of sharing my music, stories, photos and passion for ocean preservation . There was the warmest of reception to the program. The OW presentation was well recieved with immediate responses to the idea of promoting recycling in the club and nearby marinas and boatyards. So onward, forward, never looking back.... big hugs xoxoxoxoxo d

Do feel free to send in photos and whatever...I'll get them on the Internet Friend Page..

Love at first sight!...
Work is also getting in the way of my writing.
When I'm on the road I have alot of time to write and think..all that good shite.
This is like the calm after the storm, but I realy liked the storm more than the calm.....
Even in the noise of the storm I can find peace,
But in the calm I can hear every sound..
