This young woman spoke to the UN.
If they can't hear her, then who will they hear?

This is an email from Pat Henry who has been following the journey of Jeanne:
I met Jeanne a few years ago when she was in PV and planning her solo around the world. You can read her voyage posts at http://www.svnereida.com/index.php
All was going well to finish her journey in just under 16 months...but for a malfunctioning auto pilot which cost her the goal only 200 miles short of Zihuatenejo. The following post has not made it up on the site yet, but she sent it to me this morning. How devastating for her. It seemed to me at the end of my voyage that each mile became more precious for just this reason. To lose it all that close that you could taste it.

Thanks Lorraine for finding this URL for me... Yesterday, Bob was opening some mail from Florida, going through his monthly subscripted magazines and there lo and behold on the front of the May/June Ocean Navigator was me.. Billy Black had submitted a photo he had taken of me coming into Newport harbor last may... Thanks Billy and Happy Birthday!!

By Neil Vangundy after 4 years of dedication to my Journey... :

Donna, with only 7-years of sailing experience, joins the ranks of a very few elite sailors of the world. She is the fastest american woman to single handedly circumnavigated the globe in a 28-foot sailboat named after her state of mind, Inspired Insanity. With only 2 stops in the southern hemisphere, Opua, New Zealand and Ushuaia, Argentina (around the corner from Cape Horn), and a total of 290 days at sea, she completed her circumnavigation on May 16th 2007.

Donna’s story started with a tragic life-changing event in 1998. It so dismembered her existence that she left behind all that she knew. The sea was to be her mentor for a new life. A place where she could search for answers. Repeatedly being tested against extreme odds, her inner strength and physical stamina has overcome countless ocean battles in horrific conditions. Donna was tested by weather once again in April of 2007 in an epic Nor'Easter that pummeled the east coast requiring every ounce of her mental and physical endurance. She says her mind became clear and free after her boat nearly rolled over in the sea. It marked a new beginning. With that turning point, we have a new Donna Lange. With her comes a huge purpose and a huge responsibility.

Thank you Donna Lange for letting us watch you grow and sharing your inspiration and your music. You’ve seen things out there that we can barely imagine or comprehend. It’s your time to share what you’ve learned about life and death and the world we live in.

Donna is available for speaking and music programs as well as Captaining. She has Cd's for sale. MP3's of Donna's music farther below on home page. Please go to pages in site.

position: On II, forging the river Warren on the mooring...

Last night, Bob and I joined some good friends in Bristol for the Independence Park concert series. A great young band, so confident. McGee and friends. Really great music.
At one point, I looked up and saw Representative Doug Gablinsky, went over and gave him a hug. My memory flashed back to the RI State House last April 25th.. Crazy stuff..Donna Lange Day... in recognition of completing the world sail.. LIfe is amazing.
I'll be viewing the Parade this year from the sidelines but my heart will be enjoying the remembrances of last years amazing time doing the float, parading thrrough Bristol, a zillion hands to thank.
II is in dire need of some attention estetically but sound as can be. It is the perfect place to write.. to dream... to get frustrated as hell as I try to become a 'writer' of sort... How many times will i hit a wrong curser and lose hours of writing? I don't know. And as Desmond OGrady told me in Ireland, "Creative energy only comes once, if you are talking it goes to the wind, if you are writing, you have a record. Write..." He must not write on a computer. Actually, I am sure he doesn't. Smart man.
Life is good. I am happy as can be. Trying to 'do something' is the only challenge.
Why this incessant needing to have purpose and accomplish some goal?

For today, enjoying the sunshine is good enough. Well, I'll write a few pages too.
I even got some tan time sailing with Bob on the weekend.
Summer has come to RI.
Big hugs to all..
Please do check into Jeanne's story and Stephanes journey.
Happy Birthday Billy Black. It was fun to see that photo on Ocean Navigator. Maybe I will get an article off to them.. It is time I got going ..

Music gigs are starting to come

August 14th- Stella Blues in Warren RI

August 28th- Petersburg NY Arts Coucil Concert

Please do keep Cooper in your prayers as he is going to need surgery to rebuild his right shoulder. A really tough recovery is coming. Also keep my mom in your energy fields… as she is struggling with a neural deterioration causing both pain and loss of strength in her legs. But her spirit is spry as always… big hugs..

Thanks so much for keeping in touch with me.. .

Keepin On Keepin ON Keepin on Caring….advocacy is Caring In Action whether it is caring for self, others, the creatures of the sea and earth”

Big hugs xoxo d

Work is also getting in the way of my writing.
When I'm on the road I have alot of time to write and think..all that good shite.
This is like the calm after the storm, but I realy liked the storm more than the calm.....
Even in the noise of the storm I can find peace,
But in the calm I can hear every sound..
